UPCOMING EVENTS:

Calendars for 5771 are now available. Please stop by the office to pick up a copy.

  • Sisterhood Desperately Seeking:
--Someone to coordinate the Crop Walk. Beth Miller usually does it for us. This year's walk will take place Oct. 24 at 2:00 PM. There's an orientation meeting Thurs. Sept. 20 at 7:30 PM at the Methodist church
--A committee to get advertisers for the Shalom.
--And, of course, a very specialized group to work the Tag Sale on Aug 8. In lieu of applications and lengthily interviews we will accept anyone who get to the shul around 7:00 AM.

  • Eitz Chaim Fantasy Football - 2010
To participate simply go to the web page below and sign up.  It cost $136.00, $36.00 goes to the synagogue as a fundraiser, and the remaining $100.00 will be the prize money, Distribution to be determined at our draft, by the players.

Matthew Palermo will be the Commissioner, and will over see the draft.

It's on a first come basis and only open to 12 players.  If more people want to sign up and can't because the first game is locked out, we will open a second game.

In order to join the league, CLICK HERE to load the game front page, click the "Sign Up Now" or "Get Another Team" button and follow the links to "Join a Custom League". When prompted, enter the League ID# and password below.
    League ID#: 84483
    Password: eitzchaim
We will send you a confirmation with further details once you have completed the registration process.

  • Dor Hadash:  We will take a trip up to the Marlboro Kedem Winery for an afternoon of wine tasting. And for those of you who wish to purchase wines, Kedem offers over 200 different varieties of wine to choose from...just in time for Rosh Hashanah! Join us on Sunday August 22nd. We will meet at Eitz Chaim at 1:00 PM and will carpool up to the winery (those not partaking in the wine tasting will be designated drivers). Please RSVP by August 1st to Jessica Cohn if you will be able to join us, as we need to provide a final count of those attending to Kedem. While there are events open to the whole synagogue, for this event I'd like to keep this event just within the Dor Hadash community. Any questions, please contact Jessica Cohn.

  • Grow and Behold - Kosher Pastured Meats: If we have enough people order, they will deliver directly to the synagogue. The prices are high, but the animals have been treated well and the meat tastes better and is healthier for you than conventional meat. Doris Rubinsky knows the farmers and will coordinate the process if we have enough of an interest. Anyone interested can email Doris Rubinsky (or call: 783-6048).  This is their web site GrowandBehold.com. If you contact them directly, put "Monroe" in the subject.

  • Orange County Jewish Federation presents Sababa Sunday College Night Sunday August 8th at 6:30 PM at the Newburgh JCC. The program is for college students looking to understand what is going on in Israel currently. The program will consist of a pro-Israel speaker, a slideshow, and movie clips - this is not a lecture. Please contact Joyce at Federation if you are interested.

Looking for something to do? Want to help the synagogue? We have a new, fun and exciting way you can help. B-I-N-G-O. Yes, Bingo.

Bingo is coming to Eitz Chaim and you can be a part. We need 15-20 dedicated volunteers to help run this very important fund raising venue. Right now plans are in place for a once per month bingo session and we desperately need volunteers to make this happen.

And...bingo is fun! Bingo is exciting!

Each volunteer will go through a fun training session. Training starts in August so let us know ASAP. Contact either Mike Schwartz, Howard Buchman, or Michael Cohn.

Orange County Jewish Federation

Dear Eitz Chaim Members,

As some of you already know from my announcement on the Bima, I am planning a semester of study in Israel during the next school year through TRY (Tichon Ramah Yerushalayim). It is a very exciting program that includes formal high school learning and also living a full Jewish Israeli life. However, the program is very costly and I am trying to raise money with the help of The Jewish National Fund (JNF) program. The cost of each tree planted through this program is $36. Of that $18 will go to sponsor my trip. You can help sponsor my trip by buying a tree for any occasion you choose. The forms will be in the synagogue on the hallway table. Please leave the number blank and forward the form with the check made to the JNF to my mother at:

Irit Pinkus
7 Split Rock Rd
Chester, NY 10918

Since I am in Ramah Camp for the summer, you may forward all questions to my mom at 845-469-7740.

Thank you for your support and to those who have already expressed their interest in helping me achieve my goal.

Have a great summer,
Odeya Pinkus
